War Horse Movie Review
War
Horse is a movie based on the famous novel by Michael Morpugo of the same name.
War Horse is a drama and historical movie directed by Steven Spielberg, a
famous movie director that has make many great movies. The movie stars Joey
(horse) a half thoroughbred horse and Albert Narracott (Jeremy Irvine) a young
brave boy who is the son of Ted Narracott (Peter Mullan). Ted hates war and
likes to drink alcohol to forget his mistakes after serving in the Boer War.
The movie begins in a small village called Devon in the English countryside.
War Horse is a movie about World War I and the blossoming friendship between a
boy and a horse.
The
movie begins in the countryside of England where Albie see the birth of a new
foal, where he is suddenly attracted to the foal. When the foal is big enough
already, the foal gets separated with his mom and the foal was going into an
auction. Ted actually must buy a plough horse but Ted is attracted by this half
thoroughbred horse and buys it. Albie then name the horse Joey and Albie taught
Joey how to plough. Ted actually needed money and they need to plough the
bottom field, which is full of rocks. Albie and Joey then plough the bottom
field in the rain when the soil is soft and easy to plough. Ted then put the
seed inside. The next day there is a big rain and destroys the bottom field
farm. With nothing to do then Ted sell the Joey to Captain Nicholls to get
money.
In
this movie they pick good actors that is suitable for the era in the movie.
They pick the professional actors, which already played in many different
movies. John Williams is the composer that makes the scene more alive or more
emotional because the music makes things more dramatic, without the music the
movie would be boring. The shot in this movie is great, They use the low
angles, high angles, so that every scene has a meaning. The color of the scene
really tells what is the scene actually about, like in the sad part, the color
is dark colors but in the happy scene the colors are bright. The animation is
realistic I cannot differentiate when is the animation and when is the real
part. The setting of the movie is in England and France where World War I
actually happened. Joanna Johnston is the costume designer, the costumes and
the props are really like from the movie, the design and the style of the
costumes are like the 1900’s, the movie date and the costumes are matching.
I
really recommend watching this movie. It is rated PG 13 so it can e watched by
almost any age, There is not much violence in the movie so it is suitable
family movie. It has a great moral, a great plot, and the language is easy to
understand. A great movie.
